A laboratory where we attempt to create the texture, taste, and experience of non-vegetarian dishes we grew up loving but no longer eat.
But in a much realer sense, VFL is a celebration of the cornucopia of vegetarian meals we can now enjoy thanks to the power of creativity and SCIENCE!

Dave and Sarah, two vegetarians who love to cook and also enjoy recreating our favorite dishes. Dave’s in charge of the kitchen stuff, Sarah takes the pictures and documents our findings.
We’ve been vegetarian for years and while we love super healthy vegetable-only fare, the foods we really love feature meat (it’s true!). At the VFL we’ve compiled a list of our favorite recipes, products, and tips for the vegetarian who wants to indulge in classically meaty dishes sans the guilt.
We live outside of Chicago with our beloved greyhound Nell, who enjoys eating our creations as much as we do!
